Safe for all ages
TattooMaker is a design tool that people of every age browse. Everything we generate, show or recommend has to be appropriate for a general audience. The full rules are in our Acceptable Use Policy.
AI models we use
Every design on TattooMaker is generated by AI and labelled “AI-generated”. You choose the model each time you generate; its name is shown in the model picker:
- Standard — Seedream 5.0 Flash by ByteDance: sketches, photo to tattoo, cover-ups and AI try-on. Works with the free welcome credit.
- HD 2K and Ultra 4K — GPT Image 2 by OpenAI: premium sketches, HD redraws and photo edits. Needs credits from a pass, top-up or plan.
- Safety review of prompts, photos and designs — Gemini Flash by Google.
Every model runs through the same safety checks; switching models never bypasses them.
We access these models through their providers’ APIs. TattooMaker is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by ByteDance, OpenAI or Google. The stencil maker, browser try-on, font previews and calculators don’t use AI at all — they run in your browser.
What we don’t generate
- Nudity, sexual or suggestive content of any kind.
- Anything that sexualises or endangers children.
- Gore, blood, wounds, torture or self-harm imagery.
- Hate symbols, extremist insignia or slogans, including coded numbers.
- The likeness of real, identifiable people, or deepfakes.
- Copyrighted characters, brand logos, trademarks or sports crests.
- Lettering drawn by the image model. Words, names and dates are set in real, licensed fonts so they are spelled correctly.
If a request crosses one of these lines we say so plainly and suggest another direction. Blocked requests never use your credits.
How we check
- Before generation — every prompt is screened on our servers by a blocklist we keep updating, then by a safety model that reads what the request really asks for.
- On upload — photos for photo to tattoo, cover-ups and AI try-on are checked by an image safety model before any image model sees them.
- Before display — every generated design is checked by an image safety model before it is shown or saved. If it fails, it is discarded and your credits come back.
- Underneath — the image models’ own safety filters stay switched on.
- Records — blocked requests and reports are logged and reviewed by our team. Repeated blocked requests pause AI features on an account for 24 hours.
Every image in our public galleries is generated by us and reviewed by a person before it goes live. Your designs are private: they only appear in public if you choose to share a link.
Your photos
The stencil maker and browser try-on run on your device — those photos never leave it. Photos you upload for paid AI features (photo to tattoo, cover-ups, AI try-on) are stored privately, used only for your request and deleted automatically within 24 hours. Please upload only photos you have the right to use, and only body areas you are comfortable sharing. Don’t upload photos of children’s bodies.
Cover-ups sometimes involve an old tattoo that shows a symbol we wouldn’t generate. We process those privately so you can cover them, and the new design never reproduces the original symbol.
Report a problem
Every shared design has a Report this design link — reported designs are taken down at once while we review them. You can also email support@tattoomaker.org with the page link. We review every report; see the Acceptable Use Policy for response times and appeals.
